wow palin is an idiot

I haven’t posted for a really long time, but man, this video pushed me over the top.

“i’ve been hearin’ about his Senate speeches since i was in…like…second grade!”. uuuuuugggggghhhh!

I cannot imagine how anyone in their right mind could support this woman and I’m saddened to have so many friends/family who _really_ like her. For example, when speaking to my parents I hear my mom in the background saying: “Ask him if he’s as excited about Sarah as we are!?” My response? “Uhm…yeah…not so much”.

On a related note, here are some of the wonderful comments I’ve heard from my republican friends/family.

CR (close relative): “I just don’t trust Obama. I think he’ll sell us out to the easterners.”
Me: “The easterners? What does that mean?”
CR: “The middle easterners…the Arabs. I think he’ll cave to their demands.”

UFMF/FSD (uneducated farm mom/friend South Dakota):
Me: “What don’t you like about Obama?”
UFMF/FSD: “Well for one, his name…(whisper) ‘Hussein’”
Me: “Oh C’mon! Really?”
UFMF/FSD: “Well, I’m just sayin’”

URWCF (ultra-right-wing conservative friend): “I’m glad McCain suspended his campaigning to solve the financial crisis.”
Me: “Really? Do you actually think he had anything to do with solving the problem?”
URWCF: “Well at least he was THERE bringing people together!”
Me: “Yeah but do you think he played any role in the solution? It was a total political play.”
URWCF: Digresses about how for once a senator was “doing his job” and started berating Hillary for campaigning, then taking a month long vacation.
Me: /me agrees that our system of campaigning for like 2 years in advance is ridiculous, but still doesn’t McCain had anything to do with “solving” the credit crisis.

I could go on and on. Honestly, I’m at the point where I wouldn’t mind seeing the economy (and our nation) in utter shambles. I’ve worked very hard in life to get to where I’m at now (wife that I love, a modest home, fantastic job, some expendable income), but I’m pretty confident that I could survive and be content with a whole lot less. Maybe it’s time for the system to reboot.

UPDATE: ok i couldn’t resist:

“I think God’s will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gasline built. So pray for that.” (REALLY? You want me to pray to the omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient God of the universe for him to build a natural gas pipeline!? Really? Are you kidding me!?)
