tired
I can’t believe this week is almost over already…the days have just flown by.
Last weekend was super busy. Marianne and I headed up to Bemidji for my cousin’s wedding on Friday. The wedding/reception was great and it’s always so much to spend time with the extended family. Oh, and all the lonely, boring nights staying at the Holiday Inn in Alexandria (for a previous job) finally paid off since I had plenty of rewards points for a free hotel room
We spent saturday morning with the family then headed back to the cities.
Saturday was Corey’s wedding so I made it to his reception in downtown St. Paul in the evening. The reception was awesome (the band ruled!) and Pam and Corey and everyone else were so happy! MarkK was there as well so we had a great chance to catch up.
I don’t really remember what happened the rest of the week. Mare had some of her coworkers (and significant others) over for dinner last night. I was a grilling machine and cooked up like 20 chicken kabobs, corn on the cob, and potatoes. The food was awesome and I’m reaping the benefits of lots of leftovers
Then I went home and started my “late shift” at work. We’ve been trying to get a beta release out the door and we ran into a few snags (note to self…don’t bother testing code…ever…it just leads to more work
). RoyK helped me iron out a few last minute bugs and I was ready to release. Then I got greedy and tried to fix one more thing (which no one else will probably ever use…but was something I worked on) which ended up taking me until like 5am. I finally gave up and decided to release to sourceforge. Of course, my upload stalled and SF sucks so I had to figure out how to delete the stupid file! Ugh…SF is nice for free bandwidth but _really_ irks me most of the time. I finally got the release published and went to sleep (as the sky began to light up again). I got four hours of terrible sleep (in which I dreamed of repeatedly typing shell commands) and started another day.
We had kickball tonight but I checked in some broken code (and didn’t feel like going to kickball) so I skipped. It was probably a good idea since our horrible team got 10-runned in the 3rd inning
Then I headed over to mare’s and watched a movie (Under the Tuscan Sun…laaaaaaaaammmmme).
We have another wedding to attend this weekend in Staples. Then it’s 2 more days of work and a nice long vacation!!!! We’re headed up to the cabin on lake of the woods on wednesday and I’m looking forward to disconnecting for a few days. No internet + No phone == good for the soul. I’m also looking forward to smuggling a bunch of fireworks across the WI/MN border so I can have fun blowing things up next weekend.
