voip service to connect two landlines
Time to pack up and head to Door County for this weekend’s poker tourney/broomball/general fun…oy, this drive is gonna suck…2 hrs to st. paul, and 6 to DC. It should be well worth it though.
holy crap it’s cold today! -20 degrees F with -44 wind chill. My car, which usually starts just fine, groaned in pain but finally started. I had to go back into the hotel and warm up because I couldn’t feel my hands and my gloves and hat were in the trunk of my car (which was frozen shut of course). daaaaang
ok, maybe “week update” would be more appropriate. So I’m not sure if I mentioned it in the blog but I finally got cleared to work from home one day a week. Unfortunetly, that one day is Wed. It’s kinda a bummer because it means 2 trips to Alec a week but hey, at least I only need to stay in that stupid holiday inn 2 nights a week now. I love working from home. My setup here is so much nicer than at work. I miss my old-school unix keyboard, my tunes library, and my nice flat-panel (which can actually push higher that 1024×768 resolution!). Seriously, my 17″ monitor at work is just crap and leaves me with about 4 inches of screen real estate to actually write code in in VS.net.
This weekend was fantastic. On Friday I went bowling with Mare, T & S, Steve, Kev & Shizzle, Matty & Ty (his baby). Bowling was a lot of fun…at one point, this super-flamer in the lane next to us (by super flamer, i mean not one, but TWO (different colored) pink shirts and a sparkling earing in the right ear) told Kev that he “didn’t like how much time we were spending on each turn. Kev said “what…is this the f’ing PBA?”. To which flamer responded “what’s the PBA?”. hahahaha, the guy was a tool!
Saturday I went over to T & S’s to celebrate Kev’s bday and hang out. I spent most of the night dumping a portion of my media collection onto T’s imac and exchanging new music. It was awesome to hang out and listen to new tunes (of course, a dark room and cool visualizations helped too).
Today I went to church, then played broomball for about 2.5 hours. It was a blast. I took a few shinners and have a nasty deep-muscle bruise on my hip/butt which is making walking a little more interesting. Oh…i feel like i’ve been out skating and it’s good
Then I went over to Mare’s, did some laundry, ate pizza, and watched the olympics. What more could you ask for in a weekend!? besides another day or two off work of course…hehehehe.
Who would have thought I’d love Hasidic raggae!? Tristan introduced me to this guy and while I haven’t given it a full listen, I _really_ dig this stuff!
Here’s a video (Windows media) for the track that I can’t get out of my head:

Oh, and he’s playing March 2nd at First Ave!
A woman had been married three times and was still a virgin. Somebody asked her how that could be possible.
“Well,” she said. “The first time I married an octogenarian and he died before we could consummate the marriage.”
“The second time I married a naval officer and war broke out on our wedding day.”
“The third time I married a Microsoft Windows programmer and he just sat on the edge of the bed and kept telling me how good it was going to be.”
so i was over at M’s on Wed. night and she said “where are we going for dinner on Tuesday night?”. A few things ran through my scatterbrained mind:
#1 Tuesday is almost an _entire_ week away
#2 Since I’ll be driving home from work and wont’ get home until 7 or so, maybe I’ll just grab something quick
#3 I didn’t realize we had plans for Tuesday already (similar to thought #1)
My response was something like “I dont’ care…we can go wherever.”
M’s response: “But you’re supposed to take me out to eat!” — in a non-nagging tone.
P: “Oh really? and why is that?”
M: “Because it’s VALENTINES DAY!”
hahhahaha, oooops…yet another holiday that I completely forgot about. I tried to dig myself out of the hole by using reason: “I knew it was soon, I just didn’t know _exactly_ when…I would have remembered _eventually_!”
hehehe, thank goodness mare is cool and knows that I forget details like holidays (like when I forgot about Thanksgiving last year).
stupid details like dates, times, etc!
