I’m gonna say it. I hope consumer gas prices hit $4/gallon. Wouldn’t it be great!? Think how many people would change their commuting habits. I’d certainly ride to work more often. I think it would be fantastic for America.

I am the first person to shout ‘viva mass transit!!!’. However, I think that come January, you will be singing a different tune.
Just joshing - unfortunately, this is the only way to create positive change in a dollar-driven world. It reminds me of that article I read on MoJo where in order to save certain species from extinction, hunting clubs were auctioning off permits to hunt them - funneling the benefits back to the environment. I’m still mixed up on that one, but it did verify my belief that capitalism is not destined for a long life.
