xboxs’ are amazing
Josh (fellow hacker/phreaker friend from high school) stopped over tonight to mod his xbox. I have to say it was the most painless mod ever. Josh had a v1.0 xbox and had previously installed the Font Hack which had become inoperable due to being unplugged for too long and the xbox dashboard not being able to set the time correctly. So he purchased a really sweet X3 mod chip. This chip is beautiful. Josh soldered it in (since he’s an EE guy) and it booted flawlessly. The FlashBios 3.0 software that’s on the mod is fantastic. It has a built-in http server so you can flash the thing over the web…brilliant! I flashed the chip with the X3 bios which took about 10 minutes…1024k file. This thing has a really sweet externally mounted PBC. There is a really cool X logo (back lit by LEDS) wich shows the status of the chip and has LAN/HDD leds that blink too. It looks really cool. I’d take a pic, but my sister has my digicam and my cellphone has a crappy cam. Anyway, it was cool to see Josh again and talk nerd for a while. crap….gotto go…telephone call
